Important note: Save your project regularly. Select the exact clip or track before trimming, deleting, applying an effect or changing speed.
1. Quick Start — Make your first video
- Open IHS Cut Pro and sign in with your Google account.
- Click Media → Import Local Video and choose a video or picture.
- Select the imported item and click Add Selected to Screen or drag it onto the Preview.
- Click Add to Timeline. The clip appears on a video track.
- Press Play to review the edit.
- Add text, captions, music, effects or transitions from the top feature bar.
- Click Export, choose frame size and quality, then save the MP4.
Quick rule: Import → Add to Screen → Add to Timeline → Edit → Preview → Export.
2. Understand the Editor Workspace
Top command bar
- Account: signed-in user, settings and logout.
- New: begin a fresh project.
- Open: open a saved IHS Cut Pro project.
- Save: keep the current project for later editing.
- Export: create the final video file.
Main areas
- Left panel: controls for the feature selected from the top bar.
- Center Preview: the final frame, video, pictures, text and layers.
- Right panel: preview result, media-pool and timeline actions.
- Bottom Timeline: video, audio, microphone, text and overlay tracks.
3. Import and manage Media
- Open Media.
- Choose Import Local Video for a video or use the picture/import option for images.
- The imported file remains in the Media Pool.
- Double-click it or choose Add Selected Video(s) to Screen.
- Use Add to Timeline when you want it to become part of the final edit.
Deleting a timeline clip should not delete the original file from your computer. You can add it again from the Media Pool.
4. Timeline, tracks, trim and speed
- Click a clip once before moving, trimming, splitting or deleting it.
- Drag a clip left or right to change its start time.
- Drag the clip edge to trim its visible duration.
- Use separate tracks for main video, extra video, pictures, audio, microphone and text.
- Add Track creates another line. Delete Selected removes only the selected item.
- Use Timeline Zoom to see more detail around seconds and cut points.
- Shortening a speed-controlled clip makes it play faster; extending it makes it slower. Keep audio unlinked when you do not want its speed to change.
Warning: Confirm the correct track is selected before Delete or Trim. Do not close the program while export, captions or AI processing is running.
5. Preview, frame and screen layers
- Select YouTube 16:9, vertical mobile, 1080p, 720p or another frame preset.
- Drag a picture or video inside the Preview to move it.
- Use its corner handles to resize it as full screen, half screen, picture-in-picture or a corner layer.
- Frame Zoom changes the editor view. Video Zoom changes the media inside the frame.
- Preview the full edit before export and check that no text or watermark is cut off.
6. Audio, music, microphone and voice tools
- Open Audio to choose a built-in sound or import music.
- Add music to its own Music/FX timeline track.
- Use Volume or Mute on the selected audio track.
- Record microphone audio onto a separate Mic track.
- Audio Studio provides Noise Reduction, Voice Enhance, Voice Changer, Text to Speech and Video to MP3.
- Preview audio before adding it and check that deleted audio stops playing.
Keep voice, background music and sound effects on separate tracks for easier volume control.
7. Text, captions, language and style
Manual text
- Open Text and add a text layer.
- Type the words, choose font, color and style.
- Move or resize the text directly on the Preview.
- Trim its timeline bar to control how long it remains visible.
Auto captions
- Open Captions and choose the spoken language.
- Generate captions and wait for processing to finish.
- Review sentence timing on the timeline.
- Choose one of the caption styles and correct any words before export.
The program opens in English by default. Caption languages can include English, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi and other supported languages.
8. Remove, blur or replace a background
- Select the picture or video on the Preview.
- Open Background Tools.
- Choose Change Background for automatic subject removal.
- Select Color, Blur, Transparent, Original or add a foreground/background picture.
- Inspect the face, hair and clothing edges in Preview Result.
- Only click Add to Timeline after the subject remains clear.
If the subject becomes white, broken or blurred, choose Original and try again. Never replace the original file while testing a result.
9. Effects, filters and transitions
- Effects: preview Blur, Zoom, Fade, Split, Swap and other looks, then apply the selected effect.
- Filters: change the overall color mood.
- Adjustment: control brightness, contrast and saturation.
- Transitions: place a transition between two clips, preview it, set duration and apply.
Preview first. Apply one effect at a time and play the nearby timeline section before adding another.
10. Use IHS Template Studio
- Open Templates → IHS Template Studio.
- Choose Photo Motion, Social Beat Reel, Cinematic Story or an imported template.
- Fill every media slot with your own pictures or clips.
- Add optional template music.
- Click Build/Render Template and wait for progress to finish.
- Preview the result, add it to the Media Pool and then to the Timeline.
11. Export the final video
- Play the full timeline and verify picture, sound, captions and watermark.
- Click Export in the top bar.
- Choose YouTube 16:9, mobile vertical or the required social frame.
- Select quality such as 1080p or 4K when available.
- Choose a new filename and destination folder.
- Start export and wait until progress reaches 100%.
- Open the exported MP4 and check its audio before sharing.
Do not click Export repeatedly, minimize/close the editor, or delete source files while export is active.
12. Google account, settings and logout
- Use Continue with Google to verify your account.
- A saved session should keep you signed in until you choose Logout.
- Settings contains language, watermark position, performance and editor preferences.
- The installation and first menu remain in English; you may change supported settings afterward.
- Use Logout only when you want the next user to sign in.
13. Common problems and safe recovery
- Video does not appear: select it in Media Pool and add it to Screen, then Timeline.
- Wrong clip plays: stop playback, select the intended timeline clip and press Play again.
- No sound: check Mute, track volume and whether audio exists on the timeline.
- Caption timing is wrong: correct the caption bars on the timeline before export.
- Layer disappears: ensure it has been added to both Screen and Timeline.
- Editor appears frozen: wait for captions, AI or export to finish; avoid clicking the same command repeatedly.
- Old website version: press Ctrl + F5 in the browser.
